New Installations

Our cabinets and countertops are installed and WOW is this house really coming together! We also have all of our plumbing trim items being installed. More on that later.

Our trim carpenters took care of installing all of our cabinets as well as the cabinet hardware. They did an amazing job, and the cabinets all look so great. Our countertops were also installed, and the contractor did a wonderful job with the fabrication and install of them. Then, once the cabinets and countertops were in, our plumber was able to start on installing all of our finish fixtures like faucets, toilets, bathtub, etc. It is so exciting to see all this movement in the house.

As noted, we went with white oak cabinets in the kitchen, and painted green cabinets in the pantry. The “hidden” pantry door looks amazing, and we’re really happy with our decision to have the hood vent match the cabinetry instead of tiling it like we were initially thinking. For hardware, we chose to go with the same style handle for all of the cabinets in the home. It is a bar pull handle that has knurling detail. In the kitchen and pantry we went with black hardware. The countertops here are a quartzite called Taj Mahal. It is more stunning in person than photos can show. We also went with all black plumbing fixtures. So we have black quartz sinks, touch faucets, and reverse osmosis faucets in both the kitchen and pantry, and we have a cup rinser in the pantry for Colin’s coffee setup. Our trim carpenters also made and installed some white oak floating shelves in the pantry and they are the perfect complement to the green cabinets.

In the bathrooms we have beige painted cabinets. The primary bathroom has floating vanities, and the extra bathrooms have regular vanities. Lexi also has a makeup vanity in the primary closet. For these cabinets we chose to use gold hardware. We will end up with a mix of finishes in the bathrooms because we chose black plumbing fixtures and mirrors, but gold light fixtures and cabinet hardware. Don’t be scared to mix metals!

In the primary bathroom we also have a freestanding tub, which Lexi is so excited about because we have never had a soaking tub before. It is a beautiful, modern style tub with a matte black floor mounted tub filler (faucet). We also have such a fun light fixture to go with the mid-century mood in this bathroom so stay tuned for that to go in!

Finally, in the laundry room we have the same painted green cabinets that are in the pantry. We went back and forth with the hardware color for the green cabinets, so while we chose black in the pantry, we went with gold in the laundry room. Best of both worlds! As with the rest of the house, we have black plumbing fixtures in here.

It really feels like all the small details are coming together, and it’s making us more anxious by the day to move in! Next up we have more finish trim work, painting, and electrical trim out (installing light fixtures and such). Outside we still need landscaping and a fence. Keep an eye out for all the final updates as we wind this build down!
