Lot Updates

Published on

We have officially moved back to Northwest Indiana. While we were packing up and preparing to move, we were able to get some items checked off the build list. Specifically in regards to our land.

The first thing we had to do was get the lot cleared of any dead trees and shrubs. We’re very grateful to have been able to get started on some of the small items before we were able to move back (our builder is pretty great 😉). We’re trying to get the build started as soon as we can, so being able to do things like this before we could be in the area was very nice. Lexi’s dad was able to coordinate the clearing of the lot and be there while it was being done.

This photo is from the back corner of our lot. We will still have some trees behind us, but technically not on our property. All the trees on our property were dead unfortunately so we are starting with a blank slate.

Another thing we were able to get done was our lot survey. Your builder coordinates this. The survey gives you the topographical layout of your land. This is necessary for knowing how to dig for the house, final grade at the end, etc. The surveyor also places your home on your lot.

Once we got back to town we were able to visit the lot in person for the first time since January. It’s starting to green up around the area, so it was nice to see the trees looking pretty and the grass growing on the lot. With the random shrubs and dead trees cleared, it was looking like a prime piece of land! We’re excited to get a hole in this ground so we can bring this home to life.
