Final Tile Selections
- Published on

We’re back with a fun design update: we have finalized our choices for all tile in the house! We talked about this a while back, but we have made some changes since we last posted about these selections.
We need tile flooring for all the bathrooms, shower walls (and floors if there’s no tub), and the kitchen backsplash. Since we last talked about this, we changed one of the extra bathrooms to be just a shower instead of a shower/tub combo. So we needed to choose a new wall and floor tile for that. We also changed the choice for the powder room floor and the kitchen backsplash. We also finally found tile for the floors in the extra bathrooms as well as floor tile for the extra showers.

In the primary bathroom, our choices are still the same if you’ve been following along. We chose this terrazzo tile for the floor, and then in the shower we will be using this wood look tile on the walls and floor.

In the powder room, we decided to change our choice. We have discussed tiling the walls in this room in the future, so we wanted to choose a more neutral tile for the floor to have more freedom in choosing a wall tile if we ever decide to do that. We found this shiny, imperfect black square tile that we will lay in a diamond pattern.

In the kitchen we found this matte beige/white mosaic tile that is going to perfectly achieve the look we are going for. We knew we wanted a rectangular tile that we could lay in a straight stacked pattern. We had fallen in love with some small rectangular tiles from Virginia tile, but they were very much out of our price range, so we were on the search for something similar that was cheaper. If you read our kitchen design post, you know that Colin actually found this tile from an instagram post. It’s the right size, a great color to go with our palette in the kitchen, and is a good price.

For the two extra bathrooms we are using the same floor tile. We found this tile that sort of has a travertine look to it. It’s a soft, creamy beige that has nice texture throughout. In the bathroom that now has just a shower, we chose a fun, fluted (wavy) tile for the shower wall. To go with this, we chose a brown, square, mosaic tile for the shower floor. Then bathroom that has a tub only needs wall tile, and this choice is the same as what we had chosen before. It’s a white tile that is also fluted. The tub in here is white, so we wanted to keep a white wall tile as well.

Finally, the game room bathroom. We will be using the same tile on the floor here as the other two extra bathrooms. The shower walls are the same as what we originally chose a while back–a terracotta color fish scale tile to bring a fun pattern to the walls. The shower floor tile in here will be a square mosaic just like the other extra shower. However, here we chose a warm white with black specks in it.

That’s a wrap on tile! Another decision checked off the list. We are knocking these out lately, and it feels great to truly see the vision coming together.
